An under strength Blackpool travelled to Ormskirk with high hopes following a win against top of the league Carlisle the previous week. Unfortunately, it was not to be their day.
A promising start meant that both defences were kept busy, with a penalty flick being awarded then quickly rescinded for Ormskirk. A scrappy goal followed shortly after to give Ormskirk the lead going into the break.
Blackpool scored quickly after the break, with Colin Robertson scoring his first for the club with a sweeping shot to bring the scores level, however this was soon negated when Ormskirk scored their second to once again take the lead.
Blackpool again came from behind to put the ball in the back of the net from a short corner, but the goal was disallowed by the umpire. This proved to be Blackpool’s undoing as heads dropped and ultimately led to a third goal being conceeded.
Blackpool will have to try much harder in the following weeks to rescue what could have easily been another three points to help the march towards division 9.
