After last week’s fine away win against Bangor, another tough game against difficult opponents beckoned. Tameside are another side Blackpool find it difficult to beat, with only one win from 5 previous meetings.
The full team was back together, and with home advantage Blackpool took control of the game. Mike Ashfield opened the scoring in the first half.
Blackpool continued the pressure in the second half but couldn’t seem to score from open play despite numerous chances. It was left to the short corner routines, with Andy Mortimer and Dave Morgan scoring two further goals. In the end it was a relatively easy 3-0 victory and moves Blackpool up to 7th place.
Kieron Morrow was voted Man of the Match, perhaps refreshed after playing for the 2nds the previous week. The final two games see Blackpool face the relegation threatened teams of Sale and Runcorn, so it is difficult to predict whether they will be real battles or straight forward wins.
