Bottom of the table Liverpool Sefton travelled to high flying Blackpool with only 10 men and so the result was inevitable with only the scoreline unknown. Blackpool’s combination of experience and youth, including several up and coming youngsters, paid dividends.
Two goals were scored in open play by Mitch Blakemore, one from a deflection by Alex Rowe, one from a short corner by Simon Allen, and another from Nick Slater. There were also debut goals from future stars Jack Jones and Ryan Lynch. Mention should also be given to the other youngsters who performed admirably – Jason Hollis, Phil Taylor and Jacob Currey.
Blackpool stay third in Division 9N chasing for the two automatic promotion positions, although edge closer after Urmston drew, and their big match-up at Stanley Park is now only two weeks away.
