The rain held off for the match at Stanley Park on Saturday as two teams battled it out tooth and nail for 70 minutes.
The first half saw both teams taking large chunks of possession and plenty of attacking play – Glaxo failing to score from any of their short corners for most of the half but likewise, Blackpool not able to convert at the other end. With only a few minutes left to play Glaxo were awarded yet another short corner which was initially saved by goal keeper Kilshaw but rebounded back with a fierce shot into the back of the net.
The second half saw much of the same as the first, the Blackpool defence held strong and the midfield and attack began to press forward with more vigour. A shot, saved off the line by a foot saw the home side awarded with a penalty flick. Fortunately for Blackpool, the snail’s pace shot found its way past the keeper to level the scores.
Minutes later, Glaxo once again pushed forward and a neat flick over a stranded Kilshaw saw Glaxo go ahead once again. The play remained confident throughout the remainder of the game, Blackpool coming close but not able to pick up a point.
