Blackpool came to the sleepy Cheshire suburb Bramhall with some confidence with this being the first 1st team friendly despite having a few key players missing due to injury and a few players still on holiday. Blackpool had a bad start to the first half as a well organised and clinical Bramhall side took grabbed four early goals a ‘messy’ Blackpool struggled to keep pace with a team three divisions above them.
The second half was a different story as Blackpool came out from the interval a completely different side as better marking and better passing and good interlinking play in the midfield took the home side by surprise as Blackpool gained chances as Rob Abbott and Dave Wright were denied by good defending and good saves from the Bramhall goalkeeper. In the second half the home side managed to gain three further goals to complete a 9-0 defeat. Blackpool 1st team has much needed work to do in the friendlies coming up if they are to be in contention of promotion back into Division 3 for when the league starts in four weeks time, despite this setback youngster Jacob Currey made his 1st team debut and stepped up to the mark well with good fitness and good passing showing that promising young players are now pushing for regular 1st team spots.
