Blackpool continued their good home form with a patient win over Triton, and bounced back from their 6-0 away defeat to Runcorn the week before.
Captain Rob Abbott made some difficult decisions after that defeat, bringing in 2nd team goalie Nick Rainbow for his 1st team debut, dropping veteran striker Dave Morgan to leave David Wright in a lone striker role, and giving youngster Dec O’Hara the responsibility of the central midfield role.
The team looked good from the off and it was surprising that there were no goals in the first half, but Blackpool felt they had the measure of Triton with goals inevitable.
Patience was finally awareded midway through the second half when Blackpool scored the first with a tap-in from David Wright after a well placed James Slater pass. David Wright scored a well-taken second goal just minutes later.
Every member of the team/squad played their part and this season’s team is taking shape nicely. The experience of Andy Mortimer and the Morrow brothers has not yet been missed. The result leaves Blackpool in 4th place in Division 4, just one point behind arch rivals Lytham St Annes 2nd’s who top the table.
