Blackpool and Carlisle are similar clubs, with their respective 2nd teams having some great battles in the past couple of years. Now with Blackpool 1sts relegated to Division 4 they can meet with Carlisle 1sts.
The match was very close for the majority of the match, with Carlisle scoring first only for Mike Ashfield pulling one back for Blackpool after a defensive lapse to make it level at half-time.
Carlisle once again took the lead in the second half but Blackpool continued to battle and levelled the scores through a clever deflection at the near post from Mike Ashfield.
However, Blackpool’s concentration seemed to slip in the last fifteen minutes, with holes being created through the midfield by a persistent Carlisle side who managed to put away two further goals and take the full three points.
Blackpool can be proud of another spirited performance however they have now failed to pick up any points from the last four games, so desperately need something against Lancaster next week to avoid a second successive relegation battle.
