Blackpool stared brilliantly and went 2 nil up within 10 minutes, the 1st goal coming via slick passing, James Slater playing the ball from the right wing to Dave Morgan who deflected it into the path of Dave Wright, who rifled it into bottom left corner. Good defence led to the 2nd goal with a quick counter attack resulting in Dave Wright returning the favour and feeding Dave Morgan who drove into the D and chipped oncoming keeper. Lancaster were completely bamboozled and all over the place but slowly they worked there way back into the match, eventually scoring their 1st goal from well worked short corner. Pool then had a Sam Goudie goal disallowed, as the opposition umpire stated he had already blown for a short corner. Lancaster then equalised due to lax defending which allowed a Lancaster winger to cross the ball for easy tap in by the striker. However, showing character, Blackpool went straight down the other end and retook the lead, scored by “back stick” bandit, Steve Whitley who calmly flicked the ball beyond the keeper following a goal mouth scramble. Half time and Blackpool were 3 -2 up. Blackpool came out after the break full of confidence, continuing to press Lancaster for every ball all over the park. This was rewarded when Blackpool went 4-2 up, Dave Morgan beating his marker before sliding the ball through to Lefty who smashed the ball into the back board. Unfortunately it all went wrong from there, Lancaster found another gear, showing why they are top of the league and Blackpool’s slick passing started to deteriate along with their defence capabilities. Lancaster went on to score 4 goals without response.
