Blackpool 3’s hosted kirby Lonsdale on a tough day for Captain james smith. With the whole club effected by availability issues the 3’s put out a youthful but inexperienced team. Blackpool began the game on the back foot, being forced to defend from the first minute. After conceding from a scratchy goal line scrabble Blackpool began to gel in midfield , threatening Kirby’s defence and were unlucky not to level the match before half time.
After a positive team talk from Captain James Smith at half time, Blackpool came out the blocks well but were once again unlucky to concede. With both teams tiring, space began to open up allowing Blackpool and Kirby to engage in some end to end hockey, with Blackpool nearly pulling one back via Luke Halsteads effort.
Although effort levels continued Blackpool just couldn’t find the finishing touch and lost to a spirited and determined Kirby Lonsdale side managed to add another goal, effectively killing off the game.
Man of the match for pool was Phil Weir for a solid display in defence.
