After a late start on a glorious sunny afternoon, Blackpool u13’s were defending from the start and considering this is only the 2nd time the boys have mixed with the girls they all got stuck straight in.
You could see that Oxton were an established team, and from quite early on in the game they attacked goalkeeper Katie Ansell, who played the first 15 minutes. Their strength and skill proved too hot to handle and they converted shot after shot despite some great defending from George, Anya Peers and Marcy Jeffery in the Blackpool defense.
In the second half Alfie came on in goals, only his 2nd time ever in goal, and he had his eye on the ball and made some great saves however Oxton were just too good!! They managed to convert more goals and stuck to their game plan, set up from the start, of shoot on sight.
There was some great play from Poppy Bridge, Maddox and newcomer Martha, who on several occasions, were in control of the ball,
Ryan also had possession of the ball on several occasions, but Oxton very quickly clicked onto his skills and before he knew it, he was surrounded by at least 4 Oxton players, resulting in him having to recycle the ball.
The final result of 11-0 to Oxton just does not reflect the fantastic effort Blackpool u13’s boys and girls put in on one of there first matches as a team. But heads up, they will only get better with more training and matches together.
Well done to them all!
