A couple of late arrivals meant that Blackpool were forced to start the match with 10 men. However after a quick re-organisation in midfield, Blackpool were able to hold out at 0-0 until they were up to full strength. The first half progressed with Didsbury dominating possession and territory, but unable to break down a resolute Blackpool defence. At the other end Blackpool managed to create a couple of chances from long balls out of defence that evaded Didsbury’s high press, however they were unable to take advantage. The deadlock was broken 10 minutes before half time as a Didsbury forward found space in the Blackpool D and struck home with a powerful shot. Didsbury then doubled their lead before half time when a forward nipped in to deflect a short corner strike past a Blackpool defender on the goal line.
Despite being 2-0 down at half time, Blackpool were encouraged to still be in the game at half time, and came out strongly in the second half. However they were unable to find the goal that would bring them back into the game and as the half wore on, Didsbury managed to reassert their dominance, eventually adding a couple more goals to make the final score 4-0 to Didsbury.
