With Division 3 hockey secured for next season, Captain Morgan felt he could experiment slightly against already relegated Sale. He started Wright as a striker, instead of his usual midfield/defensive role, alongside youngster Blacow, and left himself on the bench.
With no goal after 15 minutes, Morgan came off the bench and immediately showed his class by scoring the first goal and linking well with Wright. Wright scored the second just before half-time.
Sale went down to 10 men when Wright blasted a shot and possibly broke a defender’s finger. Blackpool dominated the 2nd half, and with Woodman earning a Man of the Match performance for his defending and link play down the right, it was only a matter of time before Morgan scored his second.
Final score 3-1 and Blackpool’s settled team is enjoying a good run with 4 wins in a row just as the season is ending.
