Blackpool were pumped up for this rearranged match, after their win against Lytham the day before. They started well and looked the stronger side and it wasn’t long before the first goal was scored by Steve Whitley after he dribbled through half the Keswick defence. The lead was further extended when Dave Morgan converted a penalty flick after the keeper mistimed a clearance and fouled a Blackpool player in the D.
Blackpool continued to dominate, however Keswick managed to breakaway from the halfway line with Blackpool’s defence sitting too high, and managed to score with a simple pass. The second half was more even with Keswick making more attacks. However Blackpool were determined to win this vital game, and extended their lead when a Steve Whitley cross was left for David Wright to coolly finish in style.
With five minutes left, Keswick managed to sneak another goal, and Blackpool had a nervous few minutes before they could celebrate a 6 pointer weekend, which sees them leap from 10th to 6th in the ultra competitive Division 4.
