You could tell it was one of those days when Blackpool were forced to get changed at the side of the pitch/in the car park, following Blackburn Northern’s failure to offer any changing facilities before the game. Although the 14 Blackpool players played well, There were other factors involved in the game, that worked in Blackburn Northerns favour. Despite Matthew Atherton scoring a excellent Solo goal for Pool to take the lead, Burn bought their way back into the game scoring from two set pieces. Martin Owers equalised deflecting in a Goal bound Alex Diver Shot in the second half after the rule book was checked to find a reason to disallow it, however the rule book was empty on this occasion and the goal stood. Blackburn once again used their trump card to gain the lead and went 4-2 up, using the full Blackburn Northern club membership on the teamsheet (or not – 17!) to their advantage. Blackpool striker Diver got a goal back, with ten to play, however Northern decided that Blackpool would not be allowed to create any more chances, and the game would then finish. No wonder they are top of the league. An Awful display!
Alternative Report : Blackpool came up against Top of the Table Blackburn Northern and deserved more than a 4-3 defeat. Goals from Atherton Jr, Owers and Diver kept the Seasiders in the game, however Northern took advantage of Short Corners to put 4 past Belshaw and the Pool defence.
At Least Tiger’s peformance in KFC made the day pick up.
