Blackpool Hockey Club U14 were 13-0 winners against Leyland and Chorley on 8th November 2014. Blackpool took control and drove a high paced game from the outset, the relentless pressure through the first half proving too much for the brave L&C defence, early goals coming from Will Pickles and Luke Whitelow. On the quarter hour the L&C goal keeper, who had put in a brave and creditable performance to this point unfortunately deflected a shot from Keifer Walker –Earnshaw into the back of his own net. The half continued with all play in the visitors end, the fourth and fifth goals arriving in quick succession from Chris Walker, and Will Pickles respectively. The half rounded out with a sixth goal, Whitelows second of the match.
The second half started in similar fashion, with 2 more goals from Dan Howe and Walker-Earnshaw, taking the tally to eight shortly after the re-start. As the half progressed and tiredness started to take its toll, L&C put together a couple of useful looking counter attacking runs, but these were successfully snubbed out by the Blackpool back line, leaving Keeper Toby Jeffery with little to worry him. The Blackpool team continued to play their unselfish passing style, picking up five further goals with Walker-Earnshaw and Whitelow both completing their hat-tricks, a tireless performance at the front of defence was eventually rewarded with a shot finding the back of the net for Joe Neath, with the game rounding out with Ashley Swann converting a pin-point cross from Pickles in the dying seconds. When the ref blew to signal full time the score stood at 13-0, just rewards for an excellent team performance through-out.
