Blackpool thirds unlucky to achieve points in an otherwise interesting game.
Blackpool faced Rochdale on saturday and were looking to keep the score a little less embarrassing than last times 11-1 defeat away from home. Rochdale started the game 3 men down and the young Blackpool side were quick to capitalise. With a surging ball forward from Phil Weir, finding recently recovered Mike Sharp, a clean strike from the top of the penalty area placed the home side in front after a matter of minutes.
The late Rochdale players however turned the game on its head and securing two quick goals just before the break. Blackpool came out strong and regrouped in the second half holding well at the back with in form men Will Turnbull and Stan Morrison, but Rochdale had too many in numbers for the home side to hold and converted another chance making the game 3-1.
A change in formation allowed Dave Wright to push into midfield giving Blackpool some much needed attacking force. The impressive Harrison Stott linked well with Sharp allowing the forward to create a good chance for captain James Smith to run into the area and nutmeg the Rochdale keeper. 3-2 and Blackpool started to think they had a chance at points. After conceding one too many penalty corners the away side work a routine allowing a good strike from the middle of the area for a 4-2 finish to Rochdale.
Blackpool will look forward to their last game at Preston and hopefully add to what has already been a fairly productive season for the tangerine youngsters.
